Osram’s Lamps business division, to be known soon as Ledvance, expands its product portfolio with regard to smart home/smart building with a mobile measurement system. The flexible measurement system developed by Osram experts and featuring Wago technology enables the real-time, individual energy consumption measurement and evaluation of buildings – without having to modify the existing installation. The portable system for energy service providers and consultants will be shown for the first time at Light + Building in Frankfurt at Booth B10/B50 in Hall 2.
The consumption of energy in buildings is responsible for a significant portion of overall costs. Optimization based on a consumption potential analysis therefore certainly pays. An interdisciplinary team has developed the ‘Mobile Energy Monitoring’ system precisely for this purpose. The major advantage of this solution coming in a handy case is that it’s mobile, and thanks to a plug & play principle can be used immediately. After use the system can be simply disconnected and used straight away with the next commission.
“The measurement system records and documents energy flows in a building either self-sufficiently in real time or integrated as a temporary energy meter for higher-level, web-based energy portals,” explained Andreas Heyde, Product Manager at Osram. The central data collection point is a I/O 750 system already renowned in the building technology sector from the German connection and automation technology company Wago. The basis version contains modules for electricity consumption measuring and for connecting sensor technology for other energy carriers. Expansion options are modular and consist of several available I/O and communication modules to provide high levels of flexibility.
According to which energy flows were analysed, motor efficiency analyses for example can achieve specific results after just a few hours. Energy-based analyses of air-conditioning in buildings on the other hand require load diagrams under various climatic conditions. It is however not necessary to be on-site because results can be tracked via a remote desktop or an energy portal using a web browser. If the analysis provides data indicating the need for action, corresponding measures can then be immediately initiated. As a consequence, the tool optimally supports the work of energy service providers and consultants.
The suitcase kit with compact dimensions of 53 x 35 x 22 centimeters contains not only the measuring components and control technology but also a tablet computer for visualising the recorded data and preparing the results. Reports can be automatically drawn up and specific expertise is not required. The integrated e-learning software also ensures that all queries concerning ‘Mobile Energy Monitoring’ are clarified in next to no time.
Smart building will be a highly important sector for Ledvance in the future. Following Lightify as a component for smart homes, the company is now presenting its first product concerning the theme of energy efficiency. The portable ‘Mobile Energy Monitoring'’ measuring system will be shown for the first time at Light + Building in Frankfurt – Booth B10/B50 in Hall 2.
