BIOLUX HCL system from LEDVANCE wins German Innovation Award

LEDVANCE has been honored with the German Innovation Award 2020 in the category “Excellence in Business to Business – Lighting Solutions” for its BIOLUX Human Centric Lighting (HCL) System.

The German Innovation Award honors outstanding innovation achievements. LEDVANCE is among the awarded companies this year – as part of the German Innovation Awards (GIA) 2020, the new BIOLUX HCL System was recognized the winner in the category “Excellence in Business to Business – Lighting Solutions” for “innovations that advance the industry through their originality, implementa-tion and effectiveness”. The BIOLUX HCL System focuses on the human being in lighting design and ensures a healthy and creative working environment.

The German Innovation Awards honors products and solutions that distinguish them-selves primarily by their user centricity and added value compared to earlier solutions across all industrial sectors. The submitted products are evaluated by a jury based on the criteria: level of innovation, user benefits and efficiency. The innovation strategy should take into account aspects such as social, ecological and economical sustaina-bility and the use of energy and resources. Factors such as location, employment po-tential, longevity, marketability, technical quality and function, materiality and synergy effects play a decisive role in the adjudication process.

The submitted LEDVANCE BIOLUX HCL System matched with these criteria with dis-tinction because of an easy and fast installation on the one hand, and the positive ef-fects on well-being and concentration of its users on the other hand. For this purpose, the Human Centric Lighting curve developed by LEDVANCE is used, which perfectly supports the human biorhythm.

Unique to the LEDVANCE BIOLUX HCL System is the possibility of manually adjust-ing light to different working conditions. Five predefined light modes are available for this purpose.

The NATURAL mode precisely simulates the natural course of daylight. Light to im-prove concentration and productivity is supported by the BOOST and FOCUS modes, while CREATE encourages creativity in brainstorming sessions and RELAX provides relaxing light during breaks.

The BIOLUX HCL system is particularly ideal for use in offices, hospitals, doctors' sur-geries as well as in elder care and nursing homes. “The stimulating modes of our BIOLUX HCL system increase productivity and well-being during the day and improve sleep quality at night”, explains LEDVANCE Managing Director Europe-West Dr. Oliver Vogler. “We are therefore very pleased that our contribution to a better work-health bal-ance is being honored with the German Innovation Award.”

In addition to the German Innovation Award, LEDVANCE has previously won the Red Dot Award in the category Product Design 2020 for the outstanding design quality of its BIOLUX HCL Control Unit.
