A conscientious handling of substances which are hazardous is second nature to LEDVANCE. Therefore it is a high ambition to avoid and reduce certain substances in products and processes above and beyond statutory regulations. Wherever this is not possible, we will inform our customers within the framework of the European regulation 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).
According to Article 59 of the regulation, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) regularly publishes a candidate list of substances of very high concern (SVHC).
As required by article 33 of the REACH-Regulation, LEDVANCE informs customers if certain products or its packaging contain one or more of the relevant substances in a concentration above 0.1 % weight per article, as soon as we become aware of the fact.
Most SVHC are not used in electrical and electronic equipment. In case LEDVANCE should become aware that a product includes an SVHC-substance, LEDVANCE will substitute this material if technically possible.
Due to the dynamic changes of the above mentioned regulations and customer expectations, regular updates of these declarations are essential. In order to be able to manage all information requirements, LEDVANCE decided to join the substance declaration web-hosted database BOMcheck® (www.bomcheck.net).
BOMcheck® is offering a regulatory compliance tool mainly designed to enable suppliers to provide declarations of conformity with REACH, RoHS and other restricted substances legislation. The BOMcheck® system offers the following benefits for LEDVANCE suppliers:
